HHC vs. Delta 8 vs. Delta 10

As more states legalize marijuana and cannabis products, people are starting to research a wider variety of options. While THC and CBD are the most popular cannabinoids, there are many others as well. Several that have been getting more publicity lately are HHC, Delta 8, and Delta 10. Each of these has its distinctive qualities and benefits. Let's start by covering the basic qualities of these three compounds.

THC Cannabinoids
Many people are familiar with CBD and THC. However, there are actually multiple varieties of each. When you hear about THC as the psychoactive chemical in cannabis, you are probably thinking of delta 9 THC. There are also other types of THC, including delta 8 and delta 10.

Delta 8 THC
A cannabinoid derived from cannabis, delta 8 THC can be found in cannabis but only in trace amounts. Chemically, this cannabinoid is similar to delta 9 THC, which has psychoactive properties. However, it has a different structure that causes milder effects for most users. People often report feelings of well-being, euphoria, and relaxation after consuming this cannabinoid.

Delta 10 THC
Delta 10 is another THC cannabinoid that is found naturally in cannabis, though in very small quantities. Scientists and manufacturers are able to synthesize this compound, usually through a process called isomerization. Like the more commonly used delta 9, this form of THC is psychoactive. On the scale of potency, it is generally considered milder than either delta 8 or delta 9 THC.

Hexahydrocannabinol (HHC)
HHC was discovered in the 1940s, it has only been widely synthesized and used during the last few years. While this cannabinoid is related to THC, it has distinct properties that set it apart. Using a process called hydrogenation, delta 9 THC is converted to hexahydrocannabinol. This compound, which has gotten very popular in the last couple of years, has properties that are similar to THC, but most users report that the psychoactive effects are less intense. It may also have valuable medicinal benefits such as helping users relax, relieve pain, and sleep better.

Legal Status of Cannabinoids
Anyone in the cannabis community must keep up with the always changing and often confusing laws that apply to these products. You need to keep track of state as well as federal laws. Cannabis remains illegal at the federal level. CBD, which does not have psychoactive properties, is legal as long as it doesn't contain more than .3 THC. Many states have legalized cannabis for medical or recreational purposes.

The status of less familiar cannabinoids can be tricky to understand. While all types of THC, including less familiar cannabinoids, may fall under the federal prohibition of THC,
hexahydrocannabinol is in a different category as it's derived from THC but the final result gives it a distinct structure. State laws on cannabis products vary. It's safest to assume that in states where delta 9 THC are still outlawed, the same applies to delta 8 and delta 10. HHC, however, is legal unless the state has laws that prohibit or restrict all hemp and cannabis products.

Keep in mind that state, as well as federal laws, may change at any time, so it's best to stay current with the latest news regarding cannabis legislation.

Health Benefits of Cannabinoids
There is not yet a great deal of research on the medical benefits of delta 8, delta 10, or HHC. However, many users report feeling benefits from these products. All of these cannabinoids interact with the cannabinoid receptors in your body, which can bring about pain relief as well as relaxation. HHC and delta 8 are more potent than delta 10, which means they could provide better protection against pain and inflammation.

Advantages of HHC
There are a wide variety of cannabinoids and more are becoming available all the time. It makes sense to try different products and find out which ones work best for you. There are, however, certain advantages that HHC has over alternatives.

  • Legality. No one can predict what laws will be passed in the future, either federally or by states. Hexahydrocannabinol, however, has the advantage of being distinct from THC, making it less likely that it will be banned.
  • Has noticeable but gentle psychoactive effects. Some people are sensitive to the stronger effects of delta 9 THC but find delta 10 not stimulating enough.
  • It shows promise for having many of the same medical benefits as delta 9 THC. It's a viable alternative for people who want these benefits without the stronger psychoactive effects or who live in places where THC is banned.

The Advantages of Exploring New Cannabinoids
As cannabis is legalized in many states, people are anxious to explore new cannabinoids that provide different results. This provides everyone with an opportunity for people who want greater choice. Each compound is unique and affects users differently. You may prefer different products depending on your mood or state of health.
